Caravan park etiquette is a little like the theory of Love Thy Neighbour. Without thought and consideration for those around us it’s not going to be a pleasant stay.
Site Set up
When setting up your site consider the space around you. Especially if you are in a park with space give people that. Don’t park your van right alongside theirs and don’t park your van or car in a way that blocks the access to their site.
Back-up Power
Sometimes you will camp in places where you need to use your back-up generator as a source of power for your van. Generally parks will have rules around times of when you can and can’t use them stick to the rules. Don’t leave your generator running all through the night, this will ensure comfort for everyone around you.
Keep to the Path
When out exploring the park make sure you don’t walk through other campers sites. You wouldn’t walk through your neighbours backyard without being invite the same applies in caravan parks. If you do find yourself inadvertently walking through a quick hello and apology works well. It’s all about respecting others space.
Take only memories, Leave only footprints
Before you leave the site make sure you are taking any rubbish you may have left behind. Don’t leave your rubbish in the cold fire pit or stuffed behind a tree. Show care for the environment you are enjoying being in.
Keep your pets secured
If you are in a park that allows pets ensure they stay on your site. Tether them with a rope so that they have room to explore without intruding on others sites. You may know your dog is friendly however your neighbours do not.
Keep the noise down
A little like your generator other park guests won’t appreciate loud partying noises late into the night.
