A holiday on wheels allows you to travel anyway, so why not holiday in Victoria after Isolation lockdown restrictions are over? Road Trips are a perfect way to explore new regions and discover hidden gems. What’s not to love as you pack up and put on your favourite tunes and drive away to visit your as yet undiscovered? Everything is within a few hours drive, so plan to get away for a day or two and enjoy the best of what Victoria has to discover.

The Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road
If it has been a while since you took the trip – do yourself a favour and re-visit the Great Ocean Road. There are plenty of beautiful lookouts to enjoy, perhaps take a journey into the Maits Rest Rainforest. The Cape Otway Lighthouse is spectacular for those not afraid of heights, or for those that like it underground, try the Princess Margaret Rose Cave.
Wilsons Promontory
Looking for a wellness adventure in the outdoors?
Wind your way down to the peninsula on the southernmost point of Victoria – Wilsons Promontory. It has everything from wildlife, to stunning beaches, bouldering mountain ranges and beautiful scenery. Take a hike over Squeaky Beach, it’s a must if you like pure white sandy beaches,
Marysville and the Black Spur
Situated in the foothills of the Yarra Valley and Melbourne’s closest Alpine Resort is the beautiful township of Marysville. The town is just a 90min drive from Melbourne. Stop on the way at a winery, grab some lunch from the local bakery, travel along the scenic Black Spur and find your way to Marysville. Wander the forest, find Keppel Falls and of course Steavenson Falls, which are one of the most spectacular in Victoria. Fishing, Biking, shopping, markets and of course some places to wine & dine will keep you occupied at Marysville.
Daylesford
If a spa country getaway sounds more like your ‘must do’ then a trip Daylesford is your destination. Point the car north and drive. Not only is it known for its world-famous mineral springs and spa resorts, but it also offers romantic, relaxing stays and fine dining. A visit to Jubilee Lake is just a few minutes’ walk from Daylesford, offering a peaceful place with a range of family-friendly activities. Locals will tell you a must is to visit some of the art exhibitions and galleries too.
Bright
More than just a snow holiday destination, Bright in North East Victoria is beautiful. Sure, take a day to have some fun toboggining at Mount Buffalo, but then rug up and enjoy a hearty red wine at the local country pub by the fire. Spend some time visiting some hidden gems in the towns near to Bright including Myrtleford and Porepunkah. Grab a bike and see what beautiful spaces there, or perhaps you would prefer to visit the many wineries, take a swing of the clubs and play some golf, throw out a line and enjoy some time fishing, or book a rock-climbing adventure.
Lakes Entrance
Gippsland
Within Gippsland, you will find Buchan Caves Reserve, one of the largest cave systems in Victoria. Pack a picnic and enjoy the scenic reserve with abundant wildlife, or better still, stay a night at a powered site, wilderness retreat, or cabin and enjoy the stars at night. The Fairy cave offers a fantastic family experience with magnificent stalactite and stalagmite displays.
Lakes Entrance and the 90 Mile Beach
On the east coast of Victoria, Lakes Entrance is a standout for summer road trips. It’s relaxed, easy to navigate with a van, and right on the edge of the famous 90 Mile Beach. Take a walk over the footbridge to the ocean, enjoy fish and chips on the water, or launch a boat and explore the lakes. Great for families or anyone wanting a classic coastal break.
The Grampians (Gariwerd)
Towering cliffs, native wildlife and sweeping views make the Grampians a favourite for those who like a mix of activity and downtime. Base yourself in Halls Gap for access to walking trails, waterfalls and rock art sites. The region is caravan-friendly, with plenty of powered sites and scenic drives.
Macedon Ranges
An easy drive from Melbourne, the Macedon Ranges region combines small towns, forest drives and quiet walks. Visit Hanging Rock, explore local food and wine producers, or take a few days to relax in Woodend or Trentham. It’s peaceful, cool in summer, and full of character.
