Spa Country
Heading north you’ll hit Australia’s premium spa country, the ideal girls weekend away. Daylesford and Hepburn Springs are the home of indulgence. Some of the most popular include The Mineral Spa and Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa. Tempting as it is to laze all day indulge your taste buds at one of the many restaurants or cafes. With everything from fine dining to casual relaxed meals there is something to suit every taste bud. You must check out the Lake House Restaurant the images alone are enough to make you drool.
After a day of personal indulgence you’ll be ready to explore the many cool climate vineyards in the region. Then it’s onto our passion of shopping. Shopping around Daylesford is an absolute treasure trove of quirky, unique gift shops, boutiques and bookshops. Finish your second day with a bushwalk around the beautiful Lake Daylesford or the more adventurous Hepburn Regional Park.
Mornington Peninsula
For a totally different experience head south towards the bay to the beautiful clear waters of the Mornington Peninsula. From Mount Martha all the way through to Portsea there is so much to explore, taste and sip on. Start your weekend relaxing on the quiet beaches of Mount Martha. You will find a small beach with beautiful sandy shores to relax on and clear crystal waters to refresh in. Once you have enjoyed a dip head over to South Beach Project for a beautifully prepared lunch and glass of local wine.
Then it’s off to Red Hill for a day of wine tasting. With so many vineyards you are sure to find a drop you will love enjoying with your friends tonight. Continue to indulge your taste buds at Cellar & Pantry where you will find a huge assortment of everything you need to create the perfect grazing table for dinner tonight along with a delish lunch. For your final day on the peninsula head toward Sorrento for a little main street shopping. Then on to Portsea for an indulgent lunch at the historical Portsea Hotel overlooking the crystal clear waters of the bay. Finish your weekend with a stroll along Millionaires Walk for some of the most stunning views and spectacular homes.
Yarra Valley
When you think of the Yarra Valley you think of wine. But did you know the region is also filled with amazing fresh produce and unique gardening experiences. Just over 1 hour East of Melbourne you will be transported to an area of rolling hills and gorgeous views. This weekend could be an early spectacular start with a Hot Air Balloon ride over the entire valley. Of course finish this off with a glass of bubbles for breakfast. Then it’s onto a day of touring the many vineyards of the region and enjoying all they have to offer. Don’t forget to fill your tummy along the way Meletos in Coldstream offer a beautiful dining experience in their new outdoor café overlooking the vineyards. A little further up the road you could try Steels Gate in Dixons Creek offer a unique locally sourced menu and include produce from their own kitchen garden.
Your second day in the Valley should be spent exploring the other beauty of the region it’s gardens. The Yarra Valley also host to a beautiful selection of gardens from ornamental to kitchen gardening. Start with a guided tour of the Edible Forest in Dixons Creek a place where they grow edible plants, create experiences and encourage you to breathe the fresh air. Then head just down the road to Alowyn Gardens in Yarra Glen to wander their beautifully manicured gardens and be inspired throughout the seasons. All this walking is sure to build an appetite so to end the weekend in a truly indulgent manner head right next door to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie
Great Ocean Road
Our final girls weekend away destination may be a little more than a weekend away simply because of its distance. The Great Ocean road is one of Victoria’s most well know tourist attractions. Starting in Torquay and extending all the way through to Warrnambool 250km away. This spectacular coast is filled with beautiful natural sites, delish food and quaint towns. Start your trip exploring Torquay and enjoying a beautiful breakfast at one of the many cafes along the esplanade. Why not tap into your inner surf chick and head to Bells Beach for some of Australia’s best waves. Then it’s time to hit the road towards Lorne. This quaint town offers a great assortment of cafes, restaurants and shops to explore and indulge. Take a lovely long stroll along the beach front to refresh and unwind.
Heading inland to the The Otways explore the rainforest trails and discover the wildlife. Of course no trip along the Great Ocean road is complete without viewing the 12 Apostles. Perhaps a little further up the road but still worth the visit is the quaint little town of Port fairy where you will have the opportunity to visit Time and Tide. Here you can finish your weekend with a High Tea perched upon a cliff overlooking the Southern Ocean. What a way to end your trip.
